The Collins Foundation was established to provide a permanent secure home for the San Jose Peace and Justice Center (SJPJC), formerly San Jose Peace Center, by buying and maintaining a building, now called the Collins House, suitable for the SJPJC to adequately fulfill its mission.
Collins Foundation can act as a fiscal agent for social justice and peace groups as it does for SJPJC and the Coalition for a Downtown Hospital.
Collins Foundation also promotes peace and justice with its own programs.

Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2008
All of the requirements necessary to maintain the Collins House were fulfilled.
Collins continued to act as a fiscal agent for the San Jose Peace & Justice Center and for the Coalition for a Downtown Hospital.
Collins Foundation hosted the 21st annual Peace Essay Challenge public program where the winning high school students were presented their awards. The students read their entries and engaged in conversation related to the subject: “How has the war in Iraq affected you or someone you know personally?”
Collins Foundation sponsored the Holiday Peace Fair, enabling South Bay peace and justice groups to present information to shoppers amid a festive atmosphere with live entertainment and fair trade goods.

Collins expanded the scope of the Peace Essay challenge to include videos and spoken word entries, to increase its appeal to high school students.
Collins Foundation strengthened the Board of Directors with new very qualified persons to replace those who could no longer serve.
