On Saturday, September 21st, we hosted the 2019 International Day of Peace Open House and Fundraiser right here at the center! The International Day of Peace is a holiday that helps to provide a global day for each individual to contribute to building a culture of peace (1). With 16 community groups represented and over 50 community members who enjoyed different booths, food and entertainment, we would call this event a success!
Some of the highlights of our event include:
- The Raging Grannies giving an amazing performance;
- The Peace Dancer, Khalilah Rameriz showing our community members a beautiful dance;
- The marching band from DSA and the Malaya Choral Group performing songs to amp up the crowd!
- Our youth volunteers and buttons!!
With all of our amazing participants, community groups and volunteers helping out and supporting us, we would call San José Peace & Justice Center’s International Day of Peace 2019 a big success! We hope that you save the date for next year’s event.
