Charlie Hardy lived in Venezuela for 26 years, leaving in 2011. He returned mid-December 2018 and stayed for a month. He is worried & wants to share.
Charlie Hardy is the author of Cowboy in Caracas: A North American's Memoir of Venezuela's Democratic Revolution. He arrived in Venezuela in 1985 as a Catholic missionary and lived for eight years in a cardboard-and-tin shack in a government housing project. He married in 1994 and returned to the U.S. in 2011 to become involved in politics.
In 2014 he was the candidate of the Wyoming Democratic Party for the U.S. Senate. An 80-minute documentary based on that election, Charlie vs. Goliath, was shown nationally on PBS's World Channel in October.
Hardy has given hundreds of presentations dealing with Venezuela and Latin America. He has lectured in 37 colleges and universities in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
He recently returned from Venezuela and was there most of December and January.
