Hear an eyewitness report by Gloria La Riva, a union, community and anti-war activist. La Riva has traveled to Venezuela many times and recently returned after a month-long visit. Her talk will include video clips of interviews with Venezuelans involved in the revolutionary process.
Venezuela has resisted the immense pressure by the Pentagon and U.S. government led by Donald Trump. On Jan. 23, Juan Guaidó proclaimed himself “interim president” at the behest of U.S. Vice President Mike Pence. The U.S. government has illegally threatened Venezuela with outright invasion, funded right-wing paramilitaries, imposed sanctions, and seized Venezuela’s assets. The Venezuelan people have suffered electricity blackouts by U.S.-led sabotage as Washington seeks to destabilize the country for regime change.
La Riva writes for LiberationNews.org on Latin America and many other issues.
