Maria, an educator from Los Angeles, will speak about her experiences interviewing migrants from both sides of the border in California and Texas. The Los Angeles-raised daughter of Mexican migrants, Maria is committed to educating and fighting for a cooperative society where the needs of all people are met. She is a member of the Trinational Coalition in Defense of Public Education and frequently writes and documents migrants’ struggles for a dignified life. Also with a panel of local leaders speaking on issues affecting immigrants in San Jose such as ICE detainers, housing and health care.
