Protest War - Support Peace - Create Justice

On March 20 2003, the US launched the criminal invasion and occupation of Iraq. Eighteen years after that invasion, with many hundreds of thousands dead and trillions of dollars spent, the US war machine continues and expands its deadly presence in the Middle East and other regions of the world. At the same time the “War at Home” has resulted in expanding militarism in our communities in areas like policing and schools

COVID-19 has revealed the many fault lines that have been ongoing in our society. Issues with inequity and inequality have worsened. The flaws in the US healthcare system have increased risks and worsened health outcomes for many. Communities of color (Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, and others), immigrants, religious minorities, and disabled people are disproportionately impacted. Injustice is everywhere with police brutality, ongoing evictions, food insecurity, lack of worker protections, lack of affordable housing, inadequate supports for everyone in the US and elsewhere. Our government continues to serve their corporate interests and fail to meet the human needs of today.

The US continues to fund wars and militarization in this country and elsewhere through sanctions, destroying innocent lives and worsening the impact of this pandemic. It’s time to end the “forever wars”, defund the Pentagon, and use those trillions of war dollars for our human needs.

SJPJC 1st Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser

Dear Community Member,

On Monday, March 15th, the San Jose Peace and Justice Center is opening our first online fundraiser in connection with the anniversary of the criminal Iraq invasion. Eighteen years later, with many hundreds of thousands dead and trillions of dollars spent, the US war machine continues and expands its deadly presence in the Middle East and other regions of the world. At the same time, the “War at Home” has resulted in expanding militarism in our communities in areas like policing and schools.

Our virtual Silent Auction is an attempt to creatively raise funds and bring the community together to continue to support one another through this time of physical distancing. We invite you to donate a product or service to include in our silent auction. Your donations will help us continue to build and create an even stronger foundation for the San Jose Peace and Justice Center and Collins Foundation.

The Center has been a resource group for progressive organizing and activism by providing affordable meeting spaces and educational programs for social change. We have a 64-year history of supporting local activism, and the main reason why we are able to sustain our organization is through community members like you!

All donations are greatly appreciated and will be tax-deductible under IRS laws. Your donation can be something as simple as a gift certificate for a service or an item or two from your local business. If you have any questions about what to donate, feel free to contact us through email: sjpjcdiamond@gmail.com or michele@sanjosepeace.org

To help facilitate your donation, you can fill out our online form (http://bit.ly/pjgive). If you have any questions, call us at (408) 297-2299 between 4 to 7 pm Monday through Friday or email us and we will handle the rest!
