Monday, December 7th was the last day of Pete’s internship here at the San José Peace and Justice Center. Pete is a Justice Studies major at San José State University, and he will be graduating this month.

A requirement of the SJPJC internship program is to create, promote, and host a community event. In October, Pete hosted a well-attended screening of the Netflix award winning documentary, “The Great Hack.”

Pete also attended his first ever protest against the oppressive Chilean government that was held at the San Jose City Hall. In his growth assessment for his internship, he said, “I would have never pictured myself standing outside for an hour holding signs to use my right to peacefully assemble but I am so glad I did it. The protestors were so welcoming to anyone that could help out and it was wonderful to experience what its like to be part of something that is bigger than myself.”

Pete has been a wonderful asset to the Center over the course of the Fall 2019 semester. He was actively engaged with many community groups and events, and was always willing to lend a helping hand in virtually any situation. We will miss you, Pete!
