Members of Congress introduced the first ever bill that proactively seeks to prevent the U.S. from sending some of the worst weapons to the Israeli military. The Gaza Healthy Ministry confirmed 59,219 people have been killed in Gaza by the Israeli military since October 7, 2023, with human rights organizations estimating a much higher death toll. Since the beginning of Israel’s genocide in Gaza in October 2023, the US has given more than $30 billion in taxpayer-funded weapons to Israel to enable its atrocities, in direct violation of U.S. and international human rights laws.
Congresswoman Delia Ramirez (Illinois) introduced HR 3565, the Block the Bombs Act, on May 21. Currently 26 other representatives are cosponsoring.
This historic legislation would prevent Trump from sending some of the worst-offender weapons that Israel has used to carry out genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and any votes in favor would send a powerful message that the people of the U.S. do not want to enable this genocide.
