The Educate and Liberate Online Conference is an event being put on Maíz San José. Maíz is a Latinx movement that advocates and develops leadership in and for marginalized communities in San José, particularly for Latinx women, queer people, and families.
The Educate and Liberate event will be taking place on Zoom on Saturday, May 30th, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, and Sunday, May 31st, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.
The intention of the conference is to educate participants about current immigration and detention policy while learning support and advocacy skills. The session on Saturday will feature a panel discussion with Teresa Castellanos of the Office of Immigrant Relations, Alma Maquitico of the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and more! The final session occurring on Sunday will consist of workshops in the following areas: Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County, Serve the People San Jose, San Jose Nikkei Resisters, Anakbayan De Anza, and Wage Theft Coalition of Santa Clara County.
