Shelter in Peace – COVID-19

The Coordinating Council and Staff of San José Peace and Justice Center made the difficult decision to close the space to all public events starting on Wednesday, March 11th. Over the weekend, it became clear that we needed to transition to working remotely. As this puts a burden on staff, interns, and volunteers, we stay mindful of everyone’s physical AND mental health. We appreciate your patience during this challenging time.

Local Peace Economy is about staying connected to one another and the Earth, and breaking down the silos created by the War economy and oppressive Capitalist structures. As an act of mutual aid, we have compiled a list of resources from social media and various groups. This resource list can be found at https://bit.ly/PeaceResources.

If you know of a helpful resource not currently listed, please help us by writing a comment or sending an email to sjpjc@sanjosepeace.org. Additionally, please share the resource list far and wide in order to make it as comprehensive and accessible as possible. Each day this list is exponentially growing with resources.

Keep an eye on our Community Calendar, as we will be updating it with various webinars, online meetings, classes, and conference calls. We will also be working towards bolstering connections with our community partner groups over the next few weeks.

During this time of “distancing,” please remember – we are only as strong as our connections. We are not alone and touch can be done in many creative ways. Stay safe and Shelter in Peace.
