By San José Unified Equity Coalition
Please join the San José Unified Equity Coalition for two upcoming calls to action. This Thursday, we invite all SJUSD educators to join us for a virtual listening session. Next week, join us at a crucial SJUSD board meeting to give public comment in support of police-free schools. More details below.
1. Virtual Teacher Listening Session this Thursday, December 2nd, at 6 pm
Note: the date was changed from 12/1 to 12/2. This event is open to all educators in SJUSD. In this session, SJUEC will provide a space for educators in SJUSD to share their concerns and ideas for building equity in our schools. Please share the attached flyer and register for the Zoom meeting in advance at: bit.ly/SJUEC-TeacherSession
Goals:
- Make connections between equity minded teachers and across school sites
- Define priorities and learn how to take action
- Help SJUEC learn how to better support teachers and students
2. SJUSD Board Meeting next Thursday, December 9th, at 6 pm
It is vital we show up and give public comment at the next board meeting as the MOU and decision on whether to have police in schools will be on the agenda again. We are also asking folx to email the board ahead of time with support for the community created MOU, and in support of alternatives to police being put in place like wellness centers and restorative justice. Save the date and we will share templates for the email and public comment soon.
We hope to see you there!
