Our panel will start with a discussion about Creating Justice led by Tiny (aka Lisa Gray-Garcia)
Tiny (aka Lisa Gray-Garcia) is a formerly unhoused, incarcerated poverty scholar, revolutionary journalist, lecturer, poet, visionary, teacher and single mama of Tiburcio, daughter of a houseless, disabled, indigenous mama Dee, and the co–founder of POOR Magazine/Prensa POBRE/PoorNewsNetwork. She is also the author of Criminal of Poverty: Growing Up Homeless in America, co-editor of A Decolonizers Guide to A Humble Revolution, Born & Raised in Frisco and – Poverty ScholarShip -Poor People Theory, Arts, words and Tears Across Mama Earth A PeoplesTeXt which was just released in 2019. In 2011 she co-launched The Homefulness Project – a landless peoples, self-determined land liberation movement in the Ohlone/Lisjan/Huchuin territory known as Deep East Oakland, ,and co-founded a liberation school for children, Deecolonize Academy.

Speaking about “Protesting War” will be Sameena Usman
Sameena Usman serves as Senior Government Relations Coordinator for the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. She is a board member for Secure Justice and Sacred Heart Community Foundation and an Advisory Member for the Santa Clara County Hate Crimes Task Force. She advocates for legislation impacting civil rights, privacy protections, and an equitable society. In her meetings with Bay Area elected officials, she highlights issues facing the Muslim community, including hate incidences and civil right complaints received by the office. She actively works to build bridges with communities, conducts interfaith dialogue, educates youth, and empowers the American Muslim community
Khalilah Ramirez will then discuss “Supporting Peace”
Khalilah Ramirez (The Peace Dancer) is an award-winning artist, author and educator in San Jose, CA. For over a decade she has championed her message of peace, joy and harmony through an original art form known as “The Dance Of Peace”. She is the author of two books, as well as numerous articles about her experiences as a performance artist specializing in peace. Khalilah has also been featured in multiple publications honoring her work as an artist and peace advocate. Her work is designed to bring joy to those who see it and to inspire others to create harmony within their own lives and bodies.
