By Veronica Eldredge, School of Arts and Culture/Mexican Heritage Plaza
Hey Everyone! Veronica here. I was so thrilled when my friend Pfox shared an opportunity with me to volunteer at the Mexican Heritage Plaza for their first food distribution back in June. Protests had just erupted across the country, our friends and community were getting beaten up, arrested, and shot by cops. Systemic violence was brought to the forefront of society in an unparalleled way through the compounding of political and social inequality and racism. In a bleak and anxiety-inducing summertime, being able to give back to our community brought me needed connection and a sense of purpose.
We NEED you!
Just as my friend shared with me, I would like to extend the opportunity to you to join our community at the Mexican Heritage Plaza for bi-monthly food distributions where we provide free groceries to 400+ families and individuals in our Mayfair/East San José community. We welcome you to La Plaza these upcoming Fall months!
Additionally, in upholding our mission of providing community arts education, this October we are thrilled to partner with the San José Multicultural Artists Guild to distribute culturally relevant art kits to the food distribution families.
Please fill out this form if you are interested in joining us in this season of giving back!
